Lop Buri – Day 1

I’m not that idiot and of course, when I planned to go to Lop Buri, I knew theRe was some ruins and monkeys there, but I promised that I’ve been really shocked by their presence in the city.

I dropped my bag a The Noom Guesthouse which was a really nice place, full of good vibes, with a nice terrace where the customers were spending their days relaxing and observing the outside world on a mattress.

My bedroom was really simple but for 150 THB, I was not complaining. I had everything I needed: a fan and a moskitoes net.

I planned to stay two days here and it was obviously a really small and calm city. How nice after Bangkok!

When I have a lot of time ahead in a new place, I love to forget my guide book at the hostel and wander around in the little streets. So I did.

After two minutes, in what looked like the Main Street, I met a guy who was shouting really aggressively to the sky (of course he was smiling… You’ll never see a Thai not smiling. That doesn’t exist). Armed with a long stick, he was pushing the electric lines. I stopped and try to find the object of his anger. A monkey! I looked around and realised they were everywhere! I called myself a fool, I thought they will be at a particular place in the city, but not in the center.

I held my camera closer and started to shoot.

Wild animal in the city have always surprised me. You should have seen me in London, the first time I saw a fox in a car park. I was hysterical. Well you can imagine me in Lop Buri!

Once I came back to the hotel I understood that it will be the first night on my own. I sat on the bed and realised that nobody will ask for me if I was not going downstairs. Did I even wanted to meet people? I wanted to give a try and went downstairs on the terrace for a little drink. That’s how I met Thierry and Arnaud, two super cool French dudes that I saw maybe 2.000 times during the day (I told you the city is really small).

At night, I went back to the station to take my tickets for the next step: Chiang Mai. Luckily I had the last bed available for the night train leaving the day after. “Security first” said the lady who explained that I will be in a women car.

I was starving so I stopped on the way on a stall in the street for an undescriptive meal that I will remember. The really nice young guy didn’t speak English at all and I still doesn’t speak Thai fluently. All my big gestures to ask him if the meal was spicy or not didn’t helped. I gave up and asked for a bowl of whatever he was serving. Well… it was good but I still don’t know what kind of meat I ate that night. I just recognised the chilly. A lot of chilly. Really hot one….

Few beers after, with my new friends at the hotel, I went to bed quite happy. That’s when I realised the floor of the first floor was constructed in a really strange way. It was absolutely not straight. I wondered when the building will crash and I was not that happy anymore…!
