Lop Buri – Monkey town

The second day in Lop Buri, I woke up super excited to have the chance to spend some time with the monkeys during the day.
I dressed up with what I thought was a warrior outfit.

I paid few bahts to enter in one of the ruins of the city, a place that we can call their sanctuary. We were only 10 people inside for 600 monkeys or so. The guards explained to me that I should not approach the big one and the mummies and that if I cared about my belongings, better put everything in my backpack (or say good bye forever to them now). Bag that they can open actually…

GoPro in my hand (yes, I DO have a selfie stick. I’ll write about that later) I entered the holly place. Two babies jumped on my arms and on my shoulders and started to grab my hair, balanced themselves head down helped with the selfiestick, put their hands on my eyes or in my ears, destroyed with application my wooden bracelet and started a fight under my skirt.
It was really funny to feel “comnected” to them, even if it was a bit painful sometimes! One of the little cheeky bastard wanted to show me his love by trying to bite my tight. That was nothing really but it reminded me that I really should not mess up with the adults, I didn’t wanted to know what the big one were capable of.

I stayed a long time playing around with them and observing how they were interacting with each others. Outside, I bought a fresh coconut and was delightfuly drinking it in the street. BIG MISTAKE. I didn’t realised how stupid I was until I saw one of these big furry animal walking straight on me. “Hmmm. I’m going to turn left to avoid him… Ah… No… He’s going that way too. Then right? No same… Ok I HAVE TO GO, SOZ, I’M BUSY OK?!” But in two seconds he was on me, mouth fully opened, teeth sparkling on the sun, ready to bite my porcelain and fragile arm. The last thing I wanted was to engage a fight with a monkey I would have rabbis right now and of course I don’t want to kick an animal. I would probably have lost the battle anyway!
Instead, I used the Titanic technic. You see when Rose and Jack are dancing together? Well I did the same. So, you just turn turn tuuuurn around you until one of you let go. Once the monkey is detached (no worries, they are really agile they will jump back on their feet) you use the second technic which is the Forrest Gump one. You let everything you have in your hands and you RUN FORREST! RUN!
