Angkor Thom –  Homage to Lara Croft

I continued the exploration that day and without any hesitation, I can say that my favorite place is Angkor Thom.

Not a lot of tourists, a lot of little rooms that you can explore with a torch, massive heads sculpted in the rock and a lot of things that you can climb freely was maybe the highlight of my three days there. You really feel like you are the first one to discover the place when you enter in a temple with the sound of the jungle in background.

When we were young, my friend Juliette and I used to play at Tomb Raider on my computer. We were closing the curtains to be in the dark in the middle of the afternoon, one was in charge of the direction, the other was shooting with the space bar. We discovered Angkor Wat through big bad pixels. I was 12 years old and didn’t imagine one second that one day, I will be Lara Croft. Ok, I didn’t have any machete to kill the massive spiders and I don’t know how to do a salto, but I escaped few monkeys on the road. Does that make me look like a badass too?

The nature is a character itself in this adventure and the beauty of the old stones are enhanced by all these massive trees holding the architecture in their roots.
I came back in the afternoon, exhausted from this first day here and full of all kind of emotions.

A jump in the swimming pool, a beer with Adam and Josh and I felt deeply asleep in my bed.
