I know… It’s a cool story bruv’…
When I called Marion in August and when we talked about visiting Angkor Wat together, she mentioned one of her dream: renting a bicycle and spending days riding it from a temple to another. Sometimes, other dreams can becoming yours…
The one dollar per day bicycle was named Paulette.
I’m not sure if giving name to object or imagining them smiling and talking to you started because of some lonely moments during my travel or if I was crazy before… Before three years old, kids usually give a soul to objects and plants and personalize them. Going back to the essential while traveling, exploring the essence of yourself maybe means that you can have your childhood imagination back?
Paulette and I spend three days together. She has been really kind and helped me to build strong and athletic thighs. The first cross in the busy streets of Siem Reap was… Complicated, but in the end driving in Asia is just a matter of who has the bigger balls. Sorry for my language but it’s really about checking if there is no trucks or cars coming, closing your eyes, praying all the gods and your protecting angel AND GO. It can be a scary moment but you understand how it works pretty quickly, trust your intuition and use your honk as much as you can. The scariest experience you can have in your life can become a holly moment of freedom. What a crazy sensation to be in this amazing archeological site, music in my ears, exploring the old temples so far away from home!
I took my three days pass ticket, a smile as big as the cat from Cheshire’s on my face and continued on the way direction Angkor Thom. On the way I stopped to this really amazing place, surrounded by water. The majesty of the old stones behind a lake were pretty impressive.
I walked so much and it was so big and beautiful that I started to have doubt about the name of the place after few minutes.
What an idiot! Of course I was in the famous Angkor Wat!
