Angkor Wat – Day 3

Last day in Angkor Wat.

I haven’t seen Siem Reap really. I was exhausted after my days exploring the temples, cycling millions of kilometers and climbing so much stairs that I couldn’t do anything else really than having dinner with my new mates and falling asleep like the chicken (we say that in French, not sure it’s an English expression).

There is something that the pictures can’t describe really, it’s the weather there. Once you start to cycle, climb some stairs or just even walk: you sweat. And it’s not a nice thing as it’s so humide and warm that you know you’ll not be dry until you take a shower and lie half naked under the AC for a long time. Even breathing make you sweat. You are dusty all day long and you are DRIPPING hundred of liters per day. Disgusting? Nah, being clean is sometimes quite relative after 10am in South East Asia, for everybody! I just started to get used to it but it can still be pretty tough.

I loved so much my three days there that being on my own during day time has not been a problem at all. It was still great to talk to people about your experiences of the day back at the hostel. Josh and Dilan (another baby, French, who bought a bike to Cross South East Asia) joined me for the last sunset on Angkor Wat. It was so romantic that Josh and I got engaged and did this amazing picture of me taking his hand in front of the site, like the Chinese couple behind us. I’m still wearing your elephant ring my dear !

Below, the real side of Angkor Wat at 6pm.
