Tips of the day: always eat your breakfast before visiting a market in South East Asia.
This is a bit uncomfortable for a fragile stomach to have to face all the smells from the fish staying on the ground or the view of the mutton’s heads on the stalls. At least in Cambodia, you are sure there will Not have any dog’s head for sale, like in North Vietnam…
I loved the colours of this small market. Discovering fruits who looks like they have been created by a God on Lsd and vegetables that you have never seen that big before is one of my little pleasure in each city I visit. What I’m a bit concerned about is the way the meat and fish are preserved and I just pray all the time not to eat (never ever) one of these things one day. I mean that I just hope that the restaurants I eat in have different providers….
I would like to point at something that you can see in these pictures and is a BIG thing in Cambodia. Old ladies are wearing pajamas in Cambodia. What am I saying… LADIES are wearing pajamas at day time and they all think it’s crazy fashion. I noticed that already in Battambang and Siem Reap but it was more than a little fashion movement in Kratie. Teenagers are wearing their school uniform with super sized stuffed animals’ head sleepers, middle aged women are going to work wearing a hello patterned hello kitty pajamas and please, don’t forget your turtleneck and your woolen hat when you go out my dear.
If you could picturise these scenes properly, you could understand how an incredible sensation of comfort comes when observing the streets in Cambodia. Like if seeing all these childish patterns everywhere could reassure you instantly and brings you back to when your parents where reading you stories before sleeping.
