After a little two hours walk, I ended up in the Battambang bamboo train station. A policemen (real one?) asked me to wait for another tourist to come to share a bamboo train. I start to make friend with the driver and ten minutes later a nice German lady arrived in a tuk tuk.

Battambang
Battambang made me feel like a city halfway between Thailand and Vietnam. This cute little place was under the French power for a long time, like in Vietnam… That maybe explains why the architecture at some point is so similar. After a fruit shake (this is the best breakfast you can have in Asia) at the White Rose, recommended by my friend Marion, I made my way to the Bamboo Train. It is an attraction for tourists now but they will probably stop doing it soon as Australia had a contract to regulate some roads and a lot of other things about transport in Cambodia. Or maybe I’ve heard somebody who’ve heard somebody who talked to somebody about it…. Something like that.

Little way to Cambodia
The day before, I tried to book a ticket to Cambodia for the next morning but no company would let me do it. They all said it was full and it was pretty expensive in the end. I just slept on the idea that I will find a solution… Later.
After a swim in the sea around 10 am, I decided that I wanted to go to Cambodia NOW.

Treat yourself
Hungover days are better in a princess hotel. It was the second time in few days that I had the opportunity to stay in a – let’s say it – place which is not supposed to have been created to welcome backpackers.

Loy Kratong
Loy Kratong is a religious event that happened in Thailand every year on the first full moon of November. This is a big thing in the north and specially in Chiang Mai but I didn’t want to come back to the north before going to Cambodia. I’ve heard that Koh Chang was also celebrating it that’s all I needed to book my ticket to go there. A beach, the jungle, monkeys and elephants and a light festival? Let’s go!
Koh Chang on a scooter
Drax’s nephew, Patrick was also traveling in Koh Chang so we joined our money for a bit to rent a scooter and check out the Island and the waterfalls in the north.
Koh Chang
I wake up early, packed my stuff and jumped on a scooter taxi towards the bus station.
I slept the entire trip, only to wake up on a pier. Who said big buses are not comfy in Asia?
Dragons
Last day in Bangkok. I thought that I had seen enough of this city but I needed to see two more places to feel satisfied.

Marion
I was a waitress in Paris for few weeks already, in this sweet little café in the center of the city when my boss introduced me to this cute little lady who was going to be my colleague for the summer. At the end of the day I realized that “cute little lady” was not the term to employ if you want to talk about Marion. It would be more like “tiger”, “strong”, “French class” or “amazing character”. She has been my partner in crimes, my confident and my support. I was her island of peace, her no-judgmental friend. A strong relationship linked us since then and when I moved in England, she was the kind of friend I would call if I was coming back to Paris for a week end, for a coffee or a mint tea at the Parisian Mosque.

This is the kind of night you regret not having your camera with you. Or not…
