Staying in a place for a week or more is, I would say, essential when you travel for few month. It’s like taking holidays of your trip. You can rest your bones on the same bench in the same spot at the same time everyday if you want to. You start to make friends and do some plans together, the kind of plans you do at home with your homies. You discover all the good places of the city and you have time to try all the different coffee shops and register all the wifi passwords of the town in your iPad. You take your time.

Battambang
Battambang made me feel like a city halfway between Thailand and Vietnam. This cute little place was under the French power for a long time, like in Vietnam… That maybe explains why the architecture at some point is so similar. After a fruit shake (this is the best breakfast you can have in Asia) at the White Rose, recommended by my friend Marion, I made my way to the Bamboo Train. It is an attraction for tourists now but they will probably stop doing it soon as Australia had a contract to regulate some roads and a lot of other things about transport in Cambodia. Or maybe I’ve heard somebody who’ve heard somebody who talked to somebody about it…. Something like that.

I’ll be gone.
Hop! In a plane direction Dubai.
I’ve been preparing for this trip for few months and I have to admit, I think about it all the time. While brushing my teeth I dream about the bad beds I will sleep in. On my way to work, I’m cycling between two buses but my spirit is transported in Angkor Wat and I imagine myself discovering the temples on a rusty bike. My friends, while we were sitting on the grass to catch the pale English sun on a quiet Sunday afternoon, I was already feeling the Thai sand between my toes, the taste of a fresh coconut on my tongue, gently lulled by the song of the waves…
